Economically speaking:
An unwillingness to see future consequences of their actions caused a few distracted apples to harm the barrel of apples.
If you prefer to say this is “an inability to see”; no one wants a blind person performing intricate brain surgery. Some things are better left to others.
Blind people don’t do intricate brain surgery because they know their inability to see would have future negative consequences.
Therefore, it’s not an “inability to see”, it’s an unwillingness to see.
Be willing to see and know your limitations.

Unconscious boys make life decisions based on what rewards are tossed to them, like a circus seal. Or tossed at them. Or what they can steal.
Conscious men make life decisions based on cultivated internal values, strive to mitigate conflicts which threaten to keep them from doing what’s right and at the very least make sure the world around them isn’t a worse place for them being in it.
